Mixed Media Wall Hangings
I'm also playing around with mixed media :) This is a wall hanging that I made for Jess as a birthday gift. I wanted this to be personalized too, so I added a number of things that I knew Jess would appreciate and apply to him.
I started out on canvas, covered it with gesso, then began inking and using modeling paste for texture and elevation. I used torn pieces of dictionary and an old Bible that my husband got for me at a used book store for this purpose. Doing several layers using different kinds of media provide for an interesting look with lots of depth and dimension. After I finished the picture, I mounted it on a piece of sanded and stained wood, distressing the edges. I found some tiles at the local hardware store that I used to encase the picture, giving it a framed look.

Card Making
Card making started a few years ago when a very close friend (+Artmycard with Julia) invited me to join in on her card making venture. It started out slow and simple...a few stamps, a few inks, and some plain card stock. Very simple.
But then it started to grow, and grow, and GROW! Before I knew it, I had speciality inks, speciality markers, brand name card stock and paper, punches, cutters, brushes, scissors, glitters, glue.....well, the list goes on and on! And then the stamps! If you have ever done any stamping, you already know that the style, type, and design is endless!
So, after 3 plus years of collecting art supplies and working on cards....for ourselves and others...we are trying to get the ball rolling and start our own card business. As it turns out, this ball is super hard to get rolling! We've been pushing and pushing, but still, it moves so slowly. Nevertheless, we have a vision and some really cool ideas that we will be sharing with you as our journey in this direction begins and continues.
Welcome to personalized card making! Enjoy the ride!
